With its sloping sides and specially designed impeller, the Jeta Grit Trap provides maximum separation of heavy mineral solids while rejecting lighter organic solids, ensuring optimal performance and reduced maintenance costs.
THE PROBLEM
Grit removal is essential in wastewater treatment. Preventing grit from settling and hardening downstream is a challenge, as grit can reduce available volume/residence time in activated sludge tanks and increase wear on downstream equipment such as pumps.
THE OVIVO SOLUTION
The Jeta Grit Trap offers an efficient, compact system for grit removal that reduces excavation and civil works costs for new installations. This established technology incorporates readily available precast concrete rings and can be retrofitted into existing plants.
HOW IT WORKS
Wastewater enters the Jeta Grit Trap tangentially, flows around the tank, and exits parallel to the inlet.
Two positive zones are set up within the grit trap chamber: the outer chamber allows grit to settle on the inclined floor, while the impeller’s predetermined speed produces radial forces that allow grit to fall into the collection hopper.
Lighter solids are retained in the water flow and carried out for downstream processing. The grit is then moved to washing, classification, and dewatering equipment using a pump system.
