The Traveling Bridge Clarifier is a robust, above-tank system equipped with scraper plows or hydraulic suction technologies that convey and remove solids, sludge, and scum. It simplifies maintenance, improves safety, reduces operational costs, and extends equipment life.
And it’s the only rectangular clarifier that operates above the tank without the need to dewater or enter the basin for maintenance.
THE PROBLEM
Traditional traveling bridge clarifiers often require basin dewatering and confined space entry for maintenance, leading to increased downtime, safety risks, and higher operational costs. Aging infrastructure and outdated designs further complicate performance and reliability.
THE OVIVO SOLUTION
With its above-tank design, the Traveling Bridge Clarifier allows nearly all maintenance to be performed externally. Its customizable configurations, advanced drive systems, and corrosion-resistant materials set the industry standard for low-maintenance, high-performance scum removal.
The result? Better settling, lower total suspended solids (TSS), and minimal algae growth, eliminating the need for costly manual cleaning.
HOW IT WORKS
The Traveling Bridge Clarifier spans the rectangular basin with a bridge—measuring from 40 feet (12 m) to 100 feet (30 m) or more—mounted on end trucks that travel along steel rails.
As the bridge moves back and forth along the length of the basin, the undercarriage collects and conveys settled sludge via scrapers or suction mechanisms. Floating scum is gathered by a surface scraper and directed to removal points.
