THE PROBLEM

Effective sludge stabilization in anaerobic digesters requires robust and reliable covers that can manage variable sludge storage capabilities and withstand the test of time.

Traditional radial truss cover designs often come with complex installation processes and higher maintenance requirements, resulting in a higher operating cost.

THE OVIVO SOLUTION

Our anaerobic digester steel covers offer a flexible, cost-effective solution for sludge stabilization. They not only provide a seal to maintain the anaerobic environment within the tank but also offer thermal shielding and odor control. Plus, these covers provide high volume gas storage for recovery and reuse.

With their radial beam design, anaerobic digester steel covers are easy to install and maintain, with a lifespan of over 30 years. And they are compatible with all Ovivo mixing systems, ensuring adequate anaerobic digestion processes.

Radial beam designs include:

Fixed Steel Cover: The Type F cover is the most economical steel cover. It is mainly applied to digesters with a constant water level.
Gasholder Steel Cover: The Type GV cover uses the radial beam design structure with added side sheet and ballast for digester gas storage. Submerged ballast blocks maximize cover stability and maintain adequate gas pressure.
HydroSeal® Steel Cover: A separate launder and liquid seal between the digester tank and cover eliminates gas and volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions and improves maintenance access.
Ultrafixed Steel Cover^TM: Stainless steel corbels support the cover on the digester wall, loading the anchors in shear as opposed to in tension on top of the digester wall. The Ultrafixed design uses a membrane seal system, which eliminates the need for a side sheet and annular filler material.

DOME SHAPE OFFERS MAXIMUM STRENGTH AND STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY

HOW IT WORKS

Anaerobic steel digester covers, constructed as dome-shaped segments of a sphere, provide maximum strength and structural integrity. The radial beam design allows for quick and efficient construction.

A thrust ring installed at the periphery of each cover absorbs all design loads without transmitting excessive forces to the digester wall. During construction, the cover is supported by radial beams attached to a center ring and the thrust ring, adding strength to the complete unit.
