THE PROBLEM
Debris in water intakes can cause significant issues for downstream equipment, such as membrane bioreactors (MBRs), leading to operational inefficiencies and increased maintenance costs. Traditional screening methods may not provide adequate protection, resulting in frequent maintenance and higher energy usage.
THE OVIVO SOLUTION
The Ozzy™ Cup Screen offers superior screening performance using a compact, in-channel and in-tank design that is simple to operate and easy to maintain. It uses less energy than similar technologies and reliably protects expensive downstream equipment by screening out small particles that can cause big problems.
HOW IT WORKS
The Ozzy™ Cup Screen has a robust drum with a solid horizontal main shaft, revolving slowly in heavy-duty, self-aligning roller bearings. Water flows from the inside to the outside of the drum through mesh panels, which are cleaned by spray wash nozzles mounted on the outer side.
Debris are caught by a screening hopper and conveyed to the screw compactor through a sluice trough. The screen is controlled by a simple drive unit positioned at deck level, with a nylon pinion engaging with a gear ring on the drum’s exterior.
The drum screen structure supports high differential loading without failure of the mesh panels, ensuring that the downstream plant does not become contaminated by unscreened water and debris.
